Our client a leading high technology manufacturer seeks an Area Sales Manager to lead an external sales team selling reprographics assets into the public sector. Your team are based from a number of our clients offices in the Midlands, South Wales & South West.

 

Your role is to motivate and manage and develop the team to achieve activity targets meaning volumes of calls, volume of appointments and demonstrations through to closure of orders and achievement of machine volume targets and revenue targets.

 

Typically 50% of sales originate from schools, 25% from Local Authorities, and County Councils and 25% from NHS / Foundation Trusts and Higher & Further Education. Our client is an approved supplier with framework contracts in place across the whole of the public sector.

 

Pro-active use of point of sale lease finance selling fixed term rental contracts is an important part of this role as typically our clients finances 70% of its sales into the public sector are financed.

 

Key to your role will be to increase your teams activity levels and improve their focus to move them from their current 80% year to date performance to > 100% , it is worth noting that none are perceived to require managing out but some do require managing up to achieve their personal targets.

 

Whilst you will not be target bearing you will be expected to lead the development of high level engagement with key customers to move our clients relationship from tactical level to strategic level.

 

Candidate Profile

 

You will be sensibly commutable to and be able to travel to all of the sales area. Ideal location would be the M4 west of cReading to M5 north of Taunton but our client are flexible.

 

You do not need a background in the capital goods supply sector but you must have strong sales management experience, with a proven record of success, and this success must be that of direct people leadership rather than matrix management.

 

You will be someone who can help your team develop and implement business plans and then manage, motivate and coach and develop them to achieve sustained success.

 

You should be a driven people leader who is fast paced , focused and dynamic and with an execution mindset but also someone who recognizes the nuances of selling into the public sector.

 

 

Base salary to £40,000 with realistic and achievable OTE of £80,000. Commission is UNCAPPED and paid quarterly in arrears. Other managers fulfilling the same position as this are earning to over £100,000 per annum and this will be proven at interviews with appropriately skilled candidates.

 

Additional benefits include a £6,000 per annum car allowance , 23 days holiday rising to 25 over time , company pension , death in service and ( after qualifying period ) health cover.
