I wanted to share the news with you that your LeaseBlog community has celebrated its first birthday with the news that we now have more than 1000 members globally.
Congratulations go to Silvia Rehn ( pictured left), Structured Lease Sales Manager at ING Lease Deutschland GmbH who becomes theLeaseBlogs 1,000th member.
Silvia who is based just north of Hamburg in Germany joined the community through theLeaseBlog group on Xing, the German based social networking site. Her reasons for joining theLeaseBlog were “I would like to join this group to be able to participate in the international exchange and to give some input where needed.”
People are joining theLeaseBlog.com for many reasons, but everyone seems to buy in to the concept of a world leasing community and indeed many are signing up to the World Leasing Map initiative as a result. You too can sign up for FREE by clicking here.
Experience Matters
I have just joined theLeaseBlog.com as a member with my new business and finance consultancy, having spent 30 years as a principal lender and lessor. How times have changed since I started out in the 1970’s. In the UK the tax breaks are a fraction of what they were, and borrowers are a lot more savvy. Yet, the market continues to grow. Why? Because everyone needs to buy assets to continue to grow their businesses.
Very simply, I think a global lessor network like theLeaseBlog.com can work to everyone’s benefit by sharing good practice, and to share in making deals happen for our customers right around the world. As a finance consultant, experience more than ever can help businesses to grow, especially as many are too busy just running their own organisations to research into new ways of finding finance.
Sales strategy: Recipe for disaster or winning formula?
Is the UK leasing market sleep walking into finance product commoditisation and “painting by numbers” style sales management? A recent study carried out by my research consultancy Interimus Limited would seem to point to a concerning trend on both aspects.

At the end of last year, I trialled a free sign up to the World Leasing Map for leasing professionals. The response was very good, so I have decided to extend the FREE SIGN UP to the end of March 2008. By developing the World Leasing Map, we will truly get to understand the extent of the LeaseBlog network and it will be easier for all to identify networking opportunities.
